Jharkhand athletes accorded warm welcome in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, May 3: Jharkhand athletes were accorded warm welcome upon reaching Tatanagar Railway Station on Tuesday, May 3. Team Jharkhand won eight medals including two gold, one silver and 5 bronze in National Masters Athletic Championship organized by Masters Athletic Federation of India, (MAFI) that concluded at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on Sunday, May 1.  

Jharkhand medal winners include SK Tomar and Avtar Singh (gold), Shanti Mukti Barla (silver),  Hussaini Lohra, ML Chatterjee, SK Tomar, PG Soy, Laxman Upadhyay (bronze).

Jharkhand Masters Athletic Association official SK Sharma welcomed the athletes.

Laxman Upadhyay, President, Jharkhand Masters Athletic Association said,  the competition this time was very tough. Many of our athletes could not participate due to one reason or the other, yet the athletes who represented the team managed to win medals and register their names among the top 8 athletes in their age group, at the national level. He also congratulated the athletes.

Secretary of the association SK Tomar, expressing happiness on the achievements of Jharkhand team, congratulated all the players and asked them to be ready and start preparing for the upcoming tournament.
