Jharkhand among first five states in Swachha Bharat Mission, doing better in PMAY


    Ranchi: Minister for Information & Broadcasting M. Venkaiah Naidu has announced a separate 24×7 DD channel for the state of Jharkhand.

    The Government was putting up a vision document for a 24×7 DD Jharkhand channel for the people of the state and the proposal was included in the 3 years Action Plan of DD.

    However till the launch of 24×7 channel, DD Ranchi programmes would be telecast on DD Bihar. Jharkhand related programmes would be provided a special window in already available 24×7 satellite channel- DD Bihar.

    The Minister made the announcement at the review meeting of the programs & initiatives of Ministry of I&B held at Ranchi, Jharkhand today. Chief Minister Raghubar Das was also present during the meeting.

    While giving an overview of issues discussed during the review meeting to scribes at Project Building, Naidu said that Government of Jharkhand has been requested to provide a dedicated power supply through separate feeders to All India Radio & Doordarshan Stations in the state.

    He mentioned that action was being taken to cover all shadow areas of Koderma region by December 2018, to ensure 100% coverage of all geographic regions in the state by DD & AIR.

    During the review meeting, Naidu urged State Government to make use of the platform of Community Radio to ensure last mile reach.

    Educational Institutions & NGOs should be motivated to set up community radio stations. He said that Community radio was an empowering tool which caters to the information needs of the people in local language/dialect.

    It broadcast programmes on various local issues relevant to the community. He added that to give a boost to radio outreach, Ministry of I&B has increased the subsidy amount to 75% for stakeholders for setting up of CRS in various states.

    Elaborating further about enhancing the radio outreach in the state, Naidu mentioned that under the FM Phase III, 16 more Private FM channels have been proposed for the state of Jharkhand.

    Naidu said that Jharkhand is among the first five states in implementing Swakhsa Bharat Mission program. It is doing comparatively better job than many states in Pradhan Mantri Sahari Aawas Yojana. He praised the CM for having approved 60,916 houses out of 2.55 lakh applications and GEO Tagging of 32,000.

    The Union Minister suggested rainwater harvesting, solar power and garbage management for the development of the state. He also reviewed Urban Transport, National Urban Livelihood Mission and loan based subsidy.

    On this occasion, the CM said that DPR and tender for Greenfield Smart City are in the last phase. Tree plantation and road construction will be done on priority level. Signage will be planted on identified places for convention center, super specialty hospital, business tower, skill development institute and educational institute.

    Naidu also complimented the state government for receiving the Special Mention Award in the Most Film Friendly State Award category at the 64th National Film Awards. He said that such appreciation would encourage state government to establish the profile of the state as the best filming destination.

    On this occasion he also appreciated film policy of state and added that the state had been awarded as the most film friendly. National Film Development Corporation and Satyajit Ray Film and Television institute will collaborate with the state for establishing proposed film city.

The Central government is trying to find out the status of implementation of different projects for all the missions. The review meetings are important for coordination and further approval of funds so that projects could be completed within time frame, he added.

    Naidu appreciated Jharkhand CM for the timely implementation of projects. He said that review meeting of all the three departments is satisfactory and centre government has approved Rs 1,246 cr for 60 projects up to 2020 under AMRUT scheme (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation of Urban Transformation.

    He further said that out of 32 projects approved in the first two years of the mission, works have been awarded in 26 percent and tenders have been called for 72 percent. There are a total of 5.71 Lakh households in 7 AMRUT towns of Jharkhand.

    At present there are 1.94 Lakh households with water tap connection. The state government will provide water connection in the remaining 3.77 lakh households in the next 3 years. He stressed on the use of LED lights and said that countrywide replacement of street lights is being planned which will save 40 percent electricity.

    He praised state government for approval of the model building bylaws which has made it possible for the consumer to register online. He said that a system is being made in consultation with Geological Survey of India and other agencies to modernise the process in the interest of consumers.

    The state government is performing well on all the parameters framed by GOI .Best performing states will be awarded an incentive of 1000 cr., he added. Jharkhand is having good credit rating and Jamshedpur emerged as cleanest city in the Eastern region, whereas Chas, Mango, Bundu, Khunti, Lohardagga and Gumla have been declared as ODF areas.

    Ranchi was selected among the 13 fast track cities in the country in May 2016 and Rs 188 crore has been released for the said development. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has been established, the state government has appointed CEO and CFO for smooth functioning, he added. He stressed on the need of physically identifying the land for smart city project.

    For improving the urban transport in Ranchi he said that recently 26 buses have been added into the stock of existing 51 buses. In future 300 more buses will be added in the fleet and operated in PPP mode.

    On the occasion, the CM said that Central government has started a good initiative of work in collaboration with the state governments. It will strengthen the team India initiative of the PM.

    For last 70 years basic infrastructure was not provided to the people but it is an opportunity for the present government because we are moving forward with policy and execution. Jharkhand’s contribution to the freedom struggle cannot be denied but the state has been denied development since 70 years. Finally, 24×7 Doordarshan has been approved by the Centre government. We welcome it on behalf of Jharkhand.
