Seraikela, Feb 22: Realization of aspirations and achieving goals are the underlining factors in success stories. One such inspirational tale is that of Anjan Kumar who is packing his bag to for the flight to USA to pursue his higher studies in Juniata College of American University.
Hailing from a modest family in a rented house at Chhota Gamharia in the Saraikela-Kharsawan district, Anjan is the son of trucker, Viseshwar Yadav and mother Urmila Devi, a dedicated homemaker.
Both, Viseshwar and Urmila had never said ‘No’ to their son’s aspirations and supported him through all the ups and downs to provide Anjan with the necessary boost to realize his career dream. And the child responded. Dedicated, sincere and assiduous, Anjan Kumar had opted for higher studies in ten US colleges including Steve’s Institute of Technology, University of Miami,, Mazuri University of Science and Technology, University of Indianapolis, Loyola College at Chicago, University of Florida and Manhattan College in New York. He had put in his applications under the ‘Next Genius Scholarship’ programme. He had also put in a separate application for obtaining scholarship.
Anjan informed, “I had to undergo examinations at three levels. The first written test on line was taken on January 22. In the second, I cleared the personal interview section and in the final stage, I had to appear in a group interview.” And the result was a whopping Rs 1.80 crore that measures up to 100 percent.
Anjan Kumar is a science student who, after completing his Std X studies from Vidya Jyoti School in Gamharia with a tally of 88 percent, completed the remaining part of his schooling at DBMS Kadma. Anjan, the ‘boy wonder,’ beamed with confidence and delight when he said, “I am definitely blessed to have such parents who never came in the way of my aspirations. They have been the pillars of my support and it is they who have bolstered my courage at every bend. My teachers, classmates and friends too have backed me through. I will now be able to purse my studies in the fields of computer science, business studies and data science from Juniata College in America. Tuition fee for this 4-year course will be zero. Of course, I will have to pay for food and accommodation as my lifestyle is simple, another facet that I have inherited from my parents.”
His parents, Viseshwar Yadav and Urmila Devi are seemingly more excited than Anjan himself. They attribute the success story to God and Anjan’s dedication.
