Jamshedpur, May 10: “The philosophy of Rabindranath as expressed through his unique and immortal literary creations remains relevant through time and we relive that golden epoch while celebrating the master’s 161st birth anniversary,” observed the President of Tagore Society, Dr HS Paul at the inaugural of the three-day celebration of World Poet and Noble Laureate, Rabindranath Tagore.
The 161st birth anniversary celebrations, organized by Tagore Society commenced with floral tributes to the immortal Bard Rabindranath by the organization’s President Dr HS Paul, Vice President Dr Gautam Dasgupta, General Secretary Ashis Chowdhury, Tagore Academy Principal Madhuchhanda Majumdar and other prominent personalities of the steel city.
The foremost organization noted for the preservation and propagation of social and cultural heritage, Tagore Society, organized Gurudev’s 161st birth anniversary celebrations at the edifice of multihued tradition, the Rabindra Bhawan in Sakchi. The contagious excitement of Rabindranath Tagore’s 161st birth anniversary celebrations was marked by the World Poet’s literary masterpieces’ presentations by teachers, students and staff of the various branches of Tagore School of Art. Songs, dances and dance-dramas marked the flavor of the birth anniversary celebrations of the immortal poet whose minute observation of nature formed the crux of Rabindranath’s indelible creative genius.
Another point of the attractive birth anniversary celebrations was the exhibition of handicrafts by students of Tagore Academy branches at various city points. The keenness of visitors was evident by their interest evinced in the handicrafts on exhibit on the occasion.
Kobi Guru Rabindranath Tagore’s musical and dance compositions reflected the Bard’s insight in the myriad forms of nature celebrated in his series of compositions, Ritu Rango meaning the colours of the seasons and the mood accompanying these contents of a cultural treasure-trove that is distinctively unique and naturally a collection that has been cherished through generations of past and present connoisseurs and common lovers of creative brilliance and who continue to ensure that the baton is handed down through generations to follow.
General Secretary of Tagore Society, Ashish Chowdhury observed on the occasion, “We organize round-the-year prgrammes to enthuse cultural and literary purists and the younger generation to propagate a rich tradition that is embedded in the socio-cultural fabric of society. Immortals like Rabindranath Tagore have embellished our ways of social thinking and this factor remains our social responsibility to pass on the torch of knowledge to the next generation. The spirit of our endeavor remained intact even through the difficult COVID times as we organized different genres of cultural pursuits online.”
And the success of Tagore Society’s social and literary pursuits reflected in the Bard’s birth anniversary celebrations at Rabindra Bhawan. The prevailing milieu was contagious and an assurance of continuity through generations to come.
