Jamshedpur, June 3: Kanhu Murmu (45 years) and his son Badal Murmu (12 years) were killed by a pick-up van (WB-33C 9203) near Bhutia Panchayat Bhawan on Matihana-Chakulia main road under Barsole police station of Baharagora on Saturday afternoon.
The son died on the spot and the father was seriously injured. Father and son were going from Bahragora to their home in Pathra by bicycle. After being pushed, the pickup van overturned on the road. Van driver Sandeep Das has also been partially injured. The villagers have caught him. Angry villagers have blocked the road demanding compensation. Due to this, long queues of vehicles have started on both sides of the road.
According to the information, the said pickup van was going from Chakulia towards Bahragora. After getting the information, Barsole police has reached the spot.
The injured father has been taken to the community health center of Baharagora in a police vehicle. After some time, 108 ambulance reached the spot to take away the dead body of Badal Murmu. On the persuasion of the police, the angry villagers allowed the dead body to be taken for postmortem.
A crowd of villagers has gathered at the spot. The villagers are adamant on demanding compensation.
