Jamshedpur: SIT to trace 7 month old girl kidnapped from Tatanagar station

Jamshedpur, Sep 3: A special investigation team (SIT) led by DSP Headquarters (Rail) has been formed to trace the seven month old girl reportedly kidnapped from the Tatanagar railway station yesterday. It was formed by the Tatanagar Rail SP Rishabh Kumar Jha.

The minor was taken away by an unidentified man yesterday around 9.30 am. His mother seeks alms at the railway station for a living. The man reportedly took the girl and her mother to an eatery near the second entry gate of the railway station and offered them food. After her meal, the woman handed her child to the stranger and went to toilet. When she came back, the man and her child were missing, sources said, adding further that the accused took an auto-rickshaw to kidnap the child.

Sources said the entire incident was captured on CCTV installed outside the railway station. The auto-rickshaw driver was identified and taken into custody for interrogation. He said he had gone to Mango bus stand to drop the accused. Now police are searching for more CCTV footages and witnesses to trace the culprit, sources said.

IG Rail DB Kasar had recently warned RPF jawans against slackness during his visit to Tatanagar station. He has ordered security beef-up and speedy investigation in the case, sources said.

Jamshedpur, Sep 3: Rail IG DB Kasar removed the RPF Inspector and in-charge of Tatanagar rail post Sanjay Kumar Tiwary on Saturday following the kidnapping of seven month old girl from Tatanagar railway station yesterday morning. Tiwary has been sent to Chakradharpur Division Reserve Course and has been replaced by Inspector GP Gandhi.
