Jamshedpur: Saryu accuses Raghubar of giving political colour to ACB probe on 2016 statehood expenses

Two out of three BJP members in the assembly committee were cabinet ministers in 2016

Jamshedpur, Feb 5:  Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Rai has alleged that BJP national vice-president and former chief minister Raghubar Das is deliberately giving political colour to the investigation of toffee and T-shirt scam by Anti corruption bureau (ACB).
Saryu Rai in a press statement said that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is investigating the allegations of looting government treasury by buying 5 lakh toffees and T-shirts on the state foundation day in 2016 and organizing Sunidhi Chauhan’s programs in Jamshedpur and Ranchi. The then Chief Minister Raghuvar Das is making false statements and is in confusion on the decision of the state government to order ACB probe.
“Raghubar Das saythat they have got a clean chit in this matter. He himself is telling half the truth and is blaming Chief Minister Hemat Soren for this and giving political color to the investigation,” the statement said.

According to Saryu Rai, in fact, a high-level inquiry into this toffee and T-shirt scam was recommended in the budget session of the Assembly in March 2021 during unanswered question Implementation Committee of the House in its first interim inquiry report presented in the House. In the second interim report presented in the House in the winter session of December 2021, the unanswered Question Implementation Committee had said that the documents provided by the government to the committee during the examination of toffees, T-shirts are fake.
Apart from this recommendation of the committee, in response to a question in the monsoon session 2021 of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, the government informed the House that irregularities have been found in organizing Sunidhi Chauhan’s program during the State Foundation Day celebrations in 2016. The government is ready to investigate. The House should decide whether the inquiry should be conducted by the ACB or a committee of the House.
The Speaker, as per the parliamentary procedure, informed the government that it should be investigated by the ACB. About a month after this regulation, Chief Minister Hemat Soren has ordered an inquiry by the ACB into the irregularities in toffee, T-shirt and Sunidhi Chauhan’s program.
“Raghuvar Das does not know who has confused him that he has got a clean chit in this case,” said Saryu Rai.

According to MLA Saryu Rai, the unanswered Question Implementation Committee of the Legislative Assembly, which has given a report in the House after investigation, that a high-level inquiry should be conducted into the matter and said that the documents which the government has given in front of the committee in this matter are fake. In the five-member committee, three members are from BJP and two members are from JMM. The chairman of the committee is from BJP. Two of the three BJP members of the committee have been ministers in Raghubar Das’s cabinet. The constitution of the committee is as follows:- BJP’s Ramchandra Chandravanshi-Chairman, Neera Yadav member Manish Jaiswal member and JMM’s Mathura Mahto member and Sameer Mohanty as member.
