Jamshedpur, Feb 4: A running van caught fire near Bhatia Park under Kadma police station area on Saturday afternoon.
According to eyewitnesses, the van suddenly caught fire on its way from Adityapur Toll Bridge to Kadma. Several commuters noticed smoke coming out of the car and informed the vehicle owner who was at the steering wheel. The owner, resident of Adityapur, stopped the vehicle and escaped safely. The vehicle was gutted in the fire. Police reached the scene and called fire tenders to douse the flames. Many people gathered at the scene. The fire personnel reportedly arrived after two hours. By then, the fire had been doused by local residents, sources said.
Sources said the vehicle belongs to some educational institution.
