Jamshedpur Run-a-thon captivates the city

Jamshedpur, Nov. 27: Tata Steel on Sunday organised the Jamshedpur Run-a-thon. More than 4700 registered candidates across 3 categories, including dignitaries from Tata Steel, employees from other companies, students from various institutions and schools participated in the event while people from different walks of life cheered for them. The event kick-started from JRD Tata Sports Complex.

Different events for various categories of runners was organised as a part of the event. Apart from the 10 km run for elite runners (open to all), there was a 7 km run for Men and Women and a 5 km run for under-16 boys and girls.
10 km is the internationally approved distance for road races by International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

Tata Steel dignitaries present at the event were T. V. Narendran, MD, Tata Steel, India and SEA, Sunil Bhaskaran, Vice President, Corporate Services, R Ravi Prasad, President, Tata Workers Union, Anand Sen, President, TQM and Steel Business, Sudhanshu Pathak, VP, Steel Manufacturing, Ravi Radha Krishnan, Chief Sports & Guest Relations, Mukul Choudhari, Administrator, TFA & Sports, M.D.s of Tata Steel sister companies like Tarun Daga and Neeraj Kant also participated and led their teams by example. Anup T Mathew, SSP, Jamshedpur graced the occasion by his presence. Ms Deepika Kumari was also present during the occasion.

Anup T Matthew, SSP congratulated all participants for their enthusiasm and commitment. He also distributed prizes to all the winners.

The winner of 10 km (male) Yogendra Kumar Singh finished the race in 31 mins 54 secs and received Rs 51000 as prize money whereas the winner of 10 km (female) Chinta Yadav finished the race in 36 mins 33 secs and received Rs 51000 as prize money.

The winner of 7 km (male) Pintu Kumar Yadav finished the race in 21 mins 48 secs and received Rs 25000 as prize money whereas the winner of 7 km (female) Monika Choudhry finished the race in 26 mins 19 secs and received Rs 25000 as prize money.

The winner of 5 km (male) Sunil Suru Murmu finished the race in 16 mins 30 secs and received Rs. 10000 as prize money whereas the winner of 5 km (female) Sawna Murmu finished the race in 19 mins 39 secs and received Rs. 10000 as prize money.

A separate award for a senior citizen was also distributed after the event. The winner of this award was Tapas Kumar Samanta who completed the race in 42 mins 29 secs
