Jamshedpur, Oct 17: Railway Police Force (RPF) jawan Shamsher Singh (25), who was injured in an attack by villagers at Baspani station, died on Sunday morning.
He was undergoing treatment at the Neuro Department of TMH. Following his death, Shamsher was given a guard of honor at Tatanagar RPF barracks on Sunday afternoon.
The jawan was injured on 12 October after local people attacked Baspani station with sharp weapons including spade-axes, in which six RPF personnel were injured. Out of which four jawans were referred to Tata Steel Hospital in Joda while two seriously injured were referred to TMH in Jamshedpur. The injured Shamsher Singh had suffered a serious head injury and was unconscious since then.
Shamsher was originally from Bihar. After this incident, the railway administration was fully alert. After the incident, several senior railway officials including Railway IG and DIG Deepak Kumar reached the spot and took stock of the situation. In this incident, there was a lot of damage to the railway administration, due to which the railway has registered a case against 200 unknown people under the Railway Act and IPC Act.
