Jamshedpur: Relatives of ‘murdered’ shopkeeper protest against police callousness, demand arrest of culprits

Jamshedpur, Nov 23: Relatives of Telco-based Shopkeeper Sanjay Kumar Dey have accused Telco police callousness as a reason for the murder of the shopkeeper.

Shankar resident of Indiranagar in Telco was missing since November 10 and had Rs 40,000 in his possession to set up a shop on chhath. His disappearance was reported to the Telco police station. On the evening of November 22, his body was recovered from near the Barabanki culvert under MGM police station area with serious injuries to his face and head.

According to relatives, the case is of murder. The incident happened due to the negligence of the police. Even after being informed about the disappearance, the police of Telco police station did not take the matter seriously. His mobile was also on till November 16. Despite this, it was not considered appropriate to search for him from mobile location with the help of technical cell. Meanwhile, someone killed him. The dead body was thrown near Barabanki.

The post-mortem of Sanjay Kumar De’s body was conducted by the MGM police station on Tuesday, but the relatives said that only after the arrest of the killers, the body would be cremated and refused to accept the body.

Many people of the locality demonstrated in front of the SSP Office. They kept demanding the arrest of the killers.

At present the police is probing the matter. A murder FIR has been registered against unknown.
