368 new cases, 9 deaths
Total caseload jumps to 22001, death toll crosses 400
Jamshedpur, April 14:Â After seeing an upward trend for nearly 10 days, Jamshedpur finally saw a decline in the daily new COVID-19 cases. Â
As many as 368 more people tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, taking the cumulative tally to 22001, according to the latest COVID-19 bulletin. But the death toll continues to rise in Jamshedpur as nine people succumbed to the virus on Wednesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, April 13, Jamshedpur recorded 434 positives the highest single-day tally since the virus outbreak.
The positivity rate rose to 3.26 per cent in Jamshedpur.
The cumulative coronavirus case count stands at 22001 and the death count is now 407, according to the latest health bulletin.
The new cases came out of the 4421 tests conducted on Wednesday.
The best efforts of the state government and district administration will not pay dividends until and unless people themselves realize that the second wave is already knocking down human wickets and it is high time to take a defensive stance to avoid further blows.
Of the 368 new cases, 357 are from Jamshedpur urban area, 8 from Ghatsila, 2 from Potka and 1 from Patamda.
There are 2287 active COVID-19 cases in Jamshedpur. The infection tally in the Steel City has gone up to 22001 and a total of 407 fatalities due to the disease have been recorded so far.
As many 19307 people have recovered from COVID-19 so far with 156 recoveries recorded in the last 24-hours. Over 4000 COVID-19 tests, including 2876 RT-PCR and 1243 RAT were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city. The hotspot areas of the Steel City Mango, Kadma, Sonari, Bistupur and Sakchi continue to witness a virulent spread of COVID.
The district administration said it would go for aggressive containment and stricter enforcement of health protocols such as wearing masks and keeping social distance.
The surge has led to an increase in hospitalisation.
East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 253901 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur has dropped down to 89.25% while the mortality rate is 1.85 %.
So far in Jamshedpur 693195 samples have been collected out of which 675885 have been tested and 653884 have turned out to be negative.
