Jamshedpur murder: Gangster shot dead near near Sabuj Kalyan Sangh Durga Puja pandal in Telco, rivalry suspected

Jamshedpur, Oct 3: Unidentified assailants shot dead gangster Ranjeet Singh alias Ranjeet Sardar near Sabuj Kalyan Sangh gate under Telco police station in broad day light on Monday.

Cops suspect the hand of Ganesh Singh and Raja Sharma, both members of a rival gang, in the killing.

Sources said the murder took place in the forenoon when the assailants opened indiscriminate fire on Ranjeet near the Durga Puja pandal of Sabuj Kalyan Sangh.

The sudden firing led to a stampede like situation as devotees ran here and there to save themselves. By the time police reached the scene, Ranjeet was lying in a pool of blood on the ground. Keys were found in Ranjeet’s hand.

Bullet wounds were found on his head. Cops sent Ranjeet to Tata Main Hospital where he was pronounced brought dead, sources said.

Sources said the deceased was a member of Amarnath gang. The gang kingpin Amarnath was sent out of the district by the administration.

Ranjeet was accused of planning a major dacoity with his associates and was arrested with 12 others from Gadra, Parsudih, on 8th April 2021.

Cops had recovered 22 country made guns and 76 bullets from the possession of the accused persons. He was released on bail on 20th September. He was a resident of Tinplate Dhala Road.

Sources said Ranjeet was at loggerheads with Ganesh Singh and Raja Sharma of his rival gang for the last several years. Both gangs have assaulted each other several times earlier.
