Jamshedpur Mother Teresa Trust molestation case: Four arrested from MP


Jamshedpur, June 16: The police have arrested four persons, including two women who had absconded after being charged with molestation by Telco police on June 6. They were arrested from Singroli district of Madhya Pradesh.

The four identified as Harpal Singh Thapar (46), wife Pushpa Rani Turkey (45), Geeta Kaur (45) and son Aditya Singh (20) have been brought here from Singroli to the steel city on transit remand on Wednesday.  All the four accused who are residents of Samsher Tower at Kharangajhar in Telco.

Revealing about the breakthrough, superintendent of police (City) Subhash Chandra Jat at a press conference said that Thapar and wife Pushpa would run an NGO, Mother Teresa Welfare Trust, at Kharangajhar where minor homeless girls were being given shelter.

” The incident came to light when two of the minors, about 16-years-old each had on June 6 alleged Thapar to have been molesting them. Later during investigation, the involvement of three other had come to light. The police had registered a under Section of molestation and also POCSO Act against the four on the basis of an FIR. But as the case was registered, all the four accused had gone missing, ” said the SP (City).

He informed a team was sets up led by additional SP, Kumar Gaurav. The team ultimately succeeded to trace the accused at a place in Singlori district where they were hiding.

According to police, two victims had fled the Kharangajhar shelter home in the night of June 5, leading the conductors of the home reporting the matter to the Telco police. But when the duo was traced the next day they refused to return to the home and had spilled the beans against Thapar and others.

According to the victims whereas Thapar and Aditya would molest them, Pushpa and Geeta would make them to do domestic work and would often assault them.

The police forwarded all the four accused to the Ghaghidih Central Jail after producing them before a judicial magistrate late in the afternoon.

The matters regarding the sexual exploitation by Thaper came to light after two minors, both 16-year-old, escaped from the protection home on Sunday evening and when traced by the police from the Telco police station area late in the night, had refused to return to the protection home.

Deputy superintendent of police (city) Kumar Gaurav said the minors have alleged Thapar of sexual exploitation.  ” Based on the statements we have registered the FIR based on the statement of both the minors. They have alleged Thaper to be have sexually exploited them, ” said Gaurav.
