Jamshedpur man robbed of Rs 70,000 by cyber fraud

Jamshedpur, June 23: Cyber criminals robbed one Sido Charan Besra of Parsudih of Rs 70,000 by duping him in the name of snapping electricity connection of his household. An FIR has been registered at Bistupur police station in this connection, sources said.

Sources said the cyber frauds sent a message on Besra’s mobile phone intimating him that his electricity connection would be discontinued due to non-payment of pending bills. On calling a number given in the message, Besra was asked by an anonymous person to pay Rs 30 by downloading Quick Support App on his mobile phone. No sooner did Besra follow the instructions, he received two messages showing successive cash withdrawals of Rs 50,000 and Rs 20,000 from his bank account. He did not take long to understand that he had been duped.
