Jamshedpur man convicted for raping minor, punishment on March 10

Jamshedpur, March 8: The POCSO Court of Additional District Judge V Sanjay Kumar Upadhyaya convicted one Vinod Mukhi for raping a minor here on Tuesday. It will pronounce judgment on the quantum of punishment on 10th March.

The case dates back to 15th September 2019 when an FIR was registered against the accused with the Bistupur police station. As per the complaint, Mukhi raped the victim, a friend of his daughter, for two months.

When the victim’s health deteriorated and she started feeling pain in her abdomen, she was taken to the doctor. It was only then that the victim spoke about the cruelty inflicted on her. By the time, the complaint was lodged, the minor was 22 weeks pregnant. Her medical reports came after two weeks. A petition was filed in the court for her medical termination of pregnancy. Following a court order, the girl underwent abortion, sources said.
