Jamshedpur, Feb 2: Even as it was inaugurated on 31st January last, Jugsalai railway over-bridge (ROB) is awaiting installation of lights and safety nets. In the absence of these two vital safety components, the ROB turns into a dark zone after dusk every day.
Local residents have demanded illumination of the ROB in view of serious safety concerns raised by them as well as by several local citizens’ outfits. They said ideally, the ROB should not have been inaugurates sans lights and safety nets.
“What was the hurry to inaugurate the ROB if the lights and safety nets had not been installed? The authorities should have waited for completion of the job before getting the ROB inaugurated by the CM,” said DK Singh, a teacher and a local resident, who crosses ROB every evening to reach his residence at Bagbera.
Sources said the state Health Miniser Banna Gupta had said that Rs 54 lakh would be spent on installation of lights and safety nets at the ROB.
