Jamshedpur, July 19: Ghaghidih central jail superintendent , Narendra Prasad Singh has recommended to the district principal and session judge for a judicial probe into the death of Kharangajhar, Telco based Mother Teresa Welfare Trust director Harpal Singh Thapar in the jail.

The demand for probe into Mother Teresa Welfare Trust director’s death inside Ghaghidih Central Jail got  louder as several prominent members of Sikh community and intellgentsia have also lent their voice to the demand for an independent probe.

Amid allegations of torture and marks of deep wounds in the body of the deceased, several people from the Sikh community have urged the administration and the state government to institute an independent probe.

BJP leader and a prominent member of the Sikh community, Amarpreet Singh Kale has termed the demise of Harpal Singh Thapar inside jail as ‘extremely objectionable and condemnable’.

In a tweet, in which the CM’s twitter handle was also tagged, he urged the CM Hemant Soren to institute a high-level probe into the entire incident and ensure strict action against the persons found guilty in the matter.

His view was supported by several other twitter users. One Mukesh Sharma, a BJP leader, said, “It is the responsibility of the judiciary to judge someone’s culpability in a crime. However, death inside jail in this manner points to a bigger conspiracy.”

Meanwhile,  Bhartiya Jan Morcha leader and MLA of Jamshedpur East Saryu Roy has demanded a probe into the reasons of death inside Ghaghidih jail.

Speaking to the family members of late Harpal Singh Thapar, director of Mother Teresa Welfare Trust, he said that the deep wound marks on the body of the deceased indicates that he might have undergone inhuman treatment inside jail.

He assured the family members to do everything to ensure that an independent probe is ordered into the matter.

Earlier, a delegation of  Bharatiya Jan Morcha led by its District President Subodh Srivastava met the relatives and family members of Harpal Singh Thapar and conveyed its condolences..

The family members told the BJM leaders that when they had spoken to Harpal Singh two days before his death, he had not said anything about his being unwell.

However, injury marks have been found on the body of Harpal Singh which clearly indicates that he might have been tortured inside the jail premises.

They alleged that an attempt was made to hide the matter by saying that his death was caused due to bad health.
