Jamshedpur, May 26: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy visited several localities of his Assembly constituency on Thursday and took notice of the alleged encroachment of government land by certain local people.
During his visit, Roy was approached by several people who demanded measures to prevent encroachment of government land. The residents said the encroachers had not even spared drains.
Assuring to take quick action, Roy spoke to the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum and discussed the encroachment issue. Roy said the encroachment would be removed with the joint effort of local residents and the district administration.
Roy visited Birsanagar, Gudiya Maidan and other localities and advised people to play trees to save the succeeding generations. He said the society can never benefit from encroachment of government land. He said a campaign would be launched to preserve public property, heritage of forefathers and plants. He spoke to the divisional forest officer and asked him to organize Van Mahotsava on large public lands such as Gudiya Maidan, Birsanagar, and plant shady trees.
He further inspected the ongoing renovation of Sidhu Kanhu statue. He said roads, drains and playgrounds should be protected for better living standard of people.
