Jamshedpur: Boat for river rafting from Joyda to Mango launched to boost tourism

Chandil, Jan 15: On the occasion of Aakhan Yatra, Ridge Adventure Foundation presented a special gift to the youth of Chandil in the form of river rafting facility that is probably a first in the Chandil region. AJSU Party Secretary, Harelal Mahto formally launched the rafting boat while keeping in view the COVID conditions.

 Harelal Mahto said on the occasion that sports and adventure played major hands in the personality development of the youth. He said that the youth of Ichagarh Assembly constituency were deprived of of sporting and adventure activities and that, with the introduction of river rafting, they would be provided an opportunity to learn and develop their personality and assuredness. He said, “Ridge Adventure Foundation has been initiating highly commendable activities in Jharkhand and such organizations should get financial assistance from the government.”

Giving information on this occasion, Foundation Secretary Prabhanshu Mahato said that river rafting was started by Ridge Adventure Foundation on the occasion of its foundation day and observed that the Chandil region youth would be able to [participate in the adventure sport of river rafting. Prabhanshu stated, “River rafting will be conducted on the Swarnrekha River between Joyda and Mango. River rafting will also be organized from Kuju in Rajnagar to Ganjia Barrage.”

Prabhanshu said that river rafting events would be organized mainly during the monsoons and the youth would get ample opportunities to learn through adventure sports. He averred, “River rafting will also boost tourism. Trained river rafters can offer social services in flood affected areas. The Foundation, in cases of floods in the district, free services will  be provided voluntarily through rafting boats.”

 He informed that four days’ residential training was provided by the Foundation to groom the younger generation in adventure sports. He further informed, “During training, along with river rafting, trekking, rock climbing, f ceiling, chimney climbing, bridging, rigging, natural caving, jeep line and many other chapters of adventure sports will be organized. We have an adventure workshop in Tumung of Rajnagar block, where, in 2019, the officials of all the nine blocks including the then Deputy Commissioner, Chhavi Ranjan participated in the proceedings and appreciated the work being done by the Ridge Adventure Foundation.”

During the inauguration, others present included the Foundation’s Chairperson Mamata Kumari, Debasish Pattanaik, Kailash Prasad Mahto, Duryodhan Gope, Arup Mahto, Amrit Majhi, Dharmendra Namtawar and Shekhar Ganguly.
