Jamshedpur : A seven-member of team of bomb disposal squad of Special Task Force (STF), Ranchi arrived at the spot of explosion in the wee hours today for carrying out investigation.
According to information, the bomb disposal team collected, a pencil battery from the heap of garbages in the blown up metal dust-bin. Other suspected materials were also collected.
Sub-inspector Ganesh Pan of the bomb disposal squad who was leading the team said that as per the initial investigation the explosion was definitely an improvised explosive device (IED) and they would send the samples collected from the site to the forensic science laboratory (FSL) for further determining the kind of chemical used in the bomb.
In the incident, a 40-year-old man, Pervez Alam sustained injuries on his stomach. A resident of Dhatkidih B-Block, Pervez was talking to one of his friends near Beldih Kalibari as the explosion took place.
He was taken to Tata Main Hospital emergency where he was released after first-aid. Senior SP, Mathew also informed that a person was injured.
The explosion ripped apart the iron walled dustbin scattering the garbage around a radius of 10 to 15 meters. There has been no damage to life or property.Police said they will soon be able to locate the culprits.
Jamshedpur had witnessed communal riots last month following clashes over some youth harrasing a girl from another community after which curfew had also been imposed in some parts of the city.
SP Anoop T Mathew said there has been no damage to life or property.
The area near the blast was cordoned off and movement of traffic restricted, police said, adding that a bomb disposal squad arrived from Ranchi to investigate the blast as well as nature of the bomb.
Police prima facie suspected that it was the handiwork of miscreants, sources added.
