Jamshedpur Anurag Foundation committed to serve thalassemic children

Jamshedpur, May 28: Anurag Foundation, an NGO is actively involved in promotion of awareness of Thalassemia and supports those who are underprivileged, therefore ill-equipped to bear the cost of medical treatment.

Established in 2002, NGO is currently taking care of 85 children suffering from thalassemia in and around Jamshedpur.  The deadly disease is claiming life of thousands of children and NGOs like Anurag Foundation are doing their best to fulfil the affected children’s need.    

The foundation organises periodic health check-up camps for the children and Jamshedpur Blood Bank very graciously always provides with their venue. Dr Prashant Chakraborty, hematologist from Kolkata who is associated with the foundation provides all possible support.

“NGO has been arranging free blood transfusions in which Jamshedpur Blood Bank always comes forward to help us and provides related medicines and medical care under the guidance of Doctors at Holy Care Hospital. We also arrange for Splenectomy operations when necessary and chelating agents for children with high Ferritin level to keep their iron level balanced,” said Vijay Laxmi Das, president, Anurag Foundation.

Sukanya Das of the foundation says, “NGO not only takes care of their regular medical check-up but also provides other support to help them maintain average haemoglobin requirement.”

On Saturday, Anurag Foundation organised health check- up camp at Jamshedpur Blood Bank forthe children. Dr Prashant Choudhary along with his team conducted the check up of the children.

Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President Corporate Services, Tata Steel graced the occasion. Kunal Sarangi, former MLA was also present at the camp.

Chaudhary and Sarangi interacted with the doctors, children and their parents and discussed their concerns over lack of awareness of thalassemia along with scarcity of relevant medical resources. 

Dr N K Das, leading cardiologist of Jamshedpur was also in attendance and he too shared his views on the same. 

Vijay Laxmi Das, president, Anurag Foundation, Sumita Nupur, Patron, Anurag Foundation, Kanchan Singh, Vice President, Sonam Saberwal, Indu Gandhi, Vibha Dudhani, Vanashree, Binu Kumari, Punay Kumar, Sukanya Das of Anurag Foundation were also present at the health check up Camp.
