Jamshedpur Agnipath Protest: Tatanagar-Danapur Express, Hyderabad-Shalimar East Coast Express cancelled

Jamshedpur, June 17: South Eastern Railway on Friday (June 17) cancelled, short terminated and controlled a number of trains in wake of violent protests at Tatanagar Railway Station and different railway zones against the new army recruitment scheme, Agnipath.  In South Eastern Railway jurisdiction, agitation was held at Tatanagar station from 8:05 am to 9:50 am.

 18183 Tatanagar-Danapur Express and 18046 Hyderabad-Shalimar East Coast Express were cancelled on Friday, June 17.

On the other hand, 13504 Hatia-Barddhaman MEMU Express will be short terminated at Kotshila and 18019 Jhargram-Dhanbad MEMU Express will be short terminated at Tatanagar.

Apart from this, several trains were controlled over S E Railway during the agitation.

Angry youth in large numbers squat on the railway tracks in Jugsalai on Friday morning. Under the banner of Maha Andolan Jharkhand, the youths raised slogans against the Union Government and refused to budge. Several trains came to stand still due to the protest.

Violent protests have erupted in several states including Jharkhand, UP, Bihar, Haryana and Telangana. The army aspirants protesting against the scheme targeted railway stations and set on fire some trains in Bihar and Telangana.
