Jamshedpur, June 16: Several students’ outfits of the city have opposed the proposed four year long recruitment of youths under the Agnipath scheme launched by the Central government.
Student leader Deepak Pandey, in a statement issued on Thursday, said, “Recruitment in the Army was stopped in the last three years due to Corona pandemic. Many youths have been sweating it out day and night for recruitment for the last three years. But now the government is trying to give them a lollypop in the name of service for just four years. This is grave injustice with the young generation,” said Pandey.

Pandey demanded that the Union government should not implement a contractual service system in the Army. “Middle class people, especially those in the service sector, are already facing unemployment due to faulty policies of the Centre. Those youth who have worked hard to get the NCC’s ‘C’ certificate are disheartened by the government’s decision as they have been dreaming to get inducted in the Army and serve the nation,” he said.
