Seraikela, May 19: Seraikela police, taking prompt action, rounded up the four accused in Tuesday night’s firing incident at Telisai, within 24 hours of the incident. Telisai is in Saraikela Nagar panchayat area under the jurisdiction of Saraikela police station. The four accused have been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
Superintendent of Police, Anand Prakash held a press conference at the Saraikela police station, informed that on Tuesday night at around 9 pm, unidentified persons opened fire near the Hari Mandir in Telisai. The SP stated that on receipt of the information, a raiding team was formed for nabbing the accused. The team was led by the Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Saraikela. The police raiding team found one cartridge shell from the spot of firing. The police team, in course of the raid, picked up Telisai resident, Ronit Bhol from his residence. He was involved in the firing incident. A mobile phone was seized from his house. Ronit confessed about his involvement in the firing incident. He also said that his friend, Chandan Mahto of Gunadih and others were involved in the incident. Chandan Mahto was arrested from his Gunadih house and recovered a country made pistol, four live cartridges and two mobile phones. Gopal Mahato, another accused in the incident, was arrested from Sokhadih with one country-made pistol and four live cartridges in his possession. On information provided by Chandan Mahto, another accused, Guru Prasad Mahto was arrested from Sokhadih. Two live cartridges, a mobile phone and the motorcycle used in the incident , Hero HF Deluxe bearing registration number JH 22B 8271 were recovered from his house.
The four accused confessed to their crime and said that the main purpose of firing on Tuesday night was to create panic among the people and establish their clout. It was stated in the press meet that the four arrested accused did not have any criminal history. Seraikela police station in-charge, Manohar Kumar along with police officers Abhimanyu Kumar, Sunny Toppo, Nitesh Kumar Prasad, Birbal Mahato and Constables Salan Lugun and Manohar Mandi formed the raiding team that arrested the accused within 24 hours of the incident.
