Jamshedpur, August 10: The Congress party organized a protest against the management of Twin City builders in Birsanagar on Wednesday accusing it of encroaching on government land and demanding investigation into the matter.

The Congress protesters alleged that vehicle parking space and the entry gate to the Twin City at Birsanagar were constructed on encroached government land and these should be removed with immediate effect. They also said that the drainage at the side of the boundary wall needed to be protected. The Congress protesters sat on dharna in front of the entrance gate of the Twin City complex. They demanded that the land be measured by government authorities to find the veracity of the accusations.

The demonstration was led by former National Secretary of Youth Congress, Jyotish Kumar Yadav. A letter mentioning the accusations and demands for a high level enquiry into the allegations was submitted to the OC of Birsanagar police station. Jyotish warned that if the district administration did not take proper steps within 20 days, the Congress members would sit on a fast unto death in front of the district headquarters.

MLA Mangal Kalindi, while passing by the site of protest, stopped and after noting the demands on the Congress members, supported their cause. According to the memorandum submitted to the Birsanagar PS and based on interaction with the media, the protesters alleged that commercial construction was being executed on illegally acquired government land by the Aastha Twin City management and builders and that was leading to heavy loss of revenue to the government. The road constructed by Aastha Twin City allegedly on the nod of the then Rajya Sabha MP, Pradip Balmuchu, was on encroached government land and accusing that the act was in gross violation of Land Transfer legal norms. Another allegation made by the Congress was that the Aastha Twin City builders were constructing multi storied floors over and above the sanctioned limit and demanded that a high level enquiry be set up to probe the matter.
