Ranchi: The governor of Jharkhand Dr Syed Ahmed, Chief Minister Hemant Soren and other dignitaries today paid tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda by garlanding his bust on Friday.
The Speaker of the Jharkhand Assembly Shashank Shekhar Bhokta was also present during the ceremony. The CM inaugurated a project to construct a park on the old premises of the Birsa Munda Central Jail.
In the first phase, Rs 3.5 crore will be spent. The CM also visited the War Memorial at Booti More and paid tributes to martyrs.
Later he also went to the monument of Bhagwan Birsa Munda at Kokar and thereafter to Birsa Chowk. The CM further visited Ulihatu village of Khunti, the native place of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh too, visited Ulihatu with the CM.
