Indian Institute of Metals organises workshop on Iron ore pelletizing

Jamshedpur, Sept. 22: The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), Jamshedpur Chapter in association with Pellet Manufacturers Association of India and Tata Steel, is organising a two day workshop on Iron ore pelletizing.

The inauguration was held on Thursday, September 22 at the Centre for Excellence. B.K Das, Vice President, Ironmaking, Tata Steel graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The theme of the workshop is �Recent advances in iron ore pelletisation technology and its impact on environment�. The two day workshop will cover areas like raw material beneficiation, mineralogy of ores, developments in pelletizing technology, quality control, alternate fuels, zero emissions, waste heat utilization, solid waste recycling and best practices in plant control.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Das said that this workshop will help the pellet makers to achieve bench marks in pellet making by producing best pellets in the world with minimum cost. He wished that this workshop should be a National event and serve to benefit the pellet community.

In addition M.K Agarwal, Chairman, IIM, Jamshedpur Chapter expressed his views on the quality of pellets to be produced for Iron Making. Dr Atanu Ranjan Pal, Chief Process, R&D, Tata Steel spoke on appropriate technical understanding of the subject of pellet making which would help the industry.

This workshop has emerged as a forum for professionals and academicians from around the world to discuss and deliberate on challenges faced by Pellet makers worldwide.

The participants in the workshop include Tata Steel Europe, Metso, Outotec, Kobe Steel, Metal Inc, Paul Wurth and Vesuvius from abroad, and Tata Steel, TCS, JSPL, JSW, Essar, Ashapura, KIOCL, BRPL, IMMT Bhubaneshwar, Elkem, Arya Steel, Fives Combustion, Jayaswal Industries, MSP Ltd., Shri Bajrang Power & Ispat Ltd. and Shri Mahavir Ferro alloys from India.
