IIMM kicks off Materials Management Week celebration at CFE

Jamshedpur, April 17: As part of the �Materials Management Week� celebrations, a lecture meeting was organized on �Cross Docking Supply of Bearings by SKF� by Rahul Sah, Territory Manager, Regional Sales & Service, SKF at Centre For Excellence on Friday.

The event was part of the week-long celebration of 40th foundation day of Indian Institute of Material Management (IIMM).

Sah spoke briefly on the supply chain Management and its importance in the modern world. For greater customer satisfaction and to meet the urgent demand of the customer one has to be on net connectivity with the various warehouses and manufacturing units throughout the world.

SKF has devised a system which immediately can show the availability of the desired stock of bearings at various manufacturing units or warehouse. From these points of availability the bearings are airlifted to the customer�s destination with the support of 3PL and 4PL logistics providers. This saves lot of movement and time and increases the customer satisfaction level to a very high standard. This is essential today to be globally competitive in the global market scenario.

Mr. Sah explained and demonstrated how, using communication through internet and intranet, they are capable of locating and moving the bearings in the shortest possible time for the distribution worldwide. The talk indeed was very interesting and informative for the supply chain professionals who were present in large number.

Earlier a press conference was held at CFE Meeting Room were KM Bhardawaj, Chairman of IIMM, Jamshedpur Chapter informed about the list of events lined up during the week long celebrations.

Bhardawaj said that a number of programs have been arranged for the benefit of Supply Chain Professionals.The MM week Programs include �Motivation and Personality Development� By K R K Kumar at RMCE Library on Saturday, April 18.

A Debate competition on �Make in India will boost the Economy� on Monday, �Mat � Quiz� on Tuesday, Students speak � �Future Supply Chains for Global Competitiveness� on Wednesday, A Essay competition on �Source to Shelf: India needs better Supply Chains� will be held were last date for receiving the essays is 21.04.2015 by 6.30 p.m.

Essays must be sent in soft copy to�iimm_jsr@yahoo.co.in. Last day of the celebration on Thursday a Musical Entertainment event will be held at Institution of Engineers Lawn, Pipe line Road, Sakchi, added Bhardawaj. Also present at the press meet were Shivaji Singh, G Rammurthy, Pramod Kumar Thakur, Treasurer Rajiv Kumar, Nilesh Mishra, Deepal Nayak, Sanyal, Prashant Banerjee and others.
