ICAR develops anti-pest hybrid

Ranchi: The Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) has developed a new sapling to prevent tomato and brinjal plants from the havoc of pests.

The same sapling will bear tomatoes and brinjals. The plant has been developed at the ICAR facility in Plandu. The chief scientist at the facility Dr Shivendra Kumar said the Murjha disease of tomato plants cold be cured through the hybridization of the plant with the brinjal plant.

This way both plants can be prevented from being infested by pests.
