Jamshedpur, April 25: World Heritage Day was celebrated by Heritage club members and students of Hill Top School on Tuesday, April 25.

The event started with a speech by Anushka Gope of Class IX on importance of Indias Heritage and protecting and preserving of valuable cultural heritage.

This was followed by Ramp Walk by Class 1 students representing different states of INDIA which shared the message about the protection, preservation and propagation of world heritage. Thereafter a Cultural Dance Programme was staged by the students of Classes 7, 8 and 9.

The event ended with the school song. The proposal for World Heritage Day first came about as the International Day for Monuments and Sites in 1982, and it was subsequently adopted by UNESCO the following year.

Every year, several activities are organised by government bodies to raise awareness around the need to protect, preserve and restore monuments and heritage sites, which include seminars to basic school-level competitions for kids.
