Chaibasa, Dec. 5: Third phase of the three-tier panchayat election in West Singhbhum district concluded peacefully registering an average of 71.2 percent voter turnout on Saturday.
The polling was in 76 percent Khutpani and Chakradharpur blocks each, whereas the poll percentage of Monoharpur block was an average of 70 percent. On the other hand, Noamundi and Anandapur blocks recorded relatively lower voter turnout, 66 percent and 68 percent respectively.
The voters of booth number 226 and 227 under Chakradharpur did not exercise their franchise, as their villages are deprived of drinking water and supply of electricity.
Peaceful polling was held in ultra-infested areas as there were no reports of any untoward incident. The district administration was successful in conducting elections in the West Singhbhum district under tight security blanket.
