Heavy rains bring relief to denizens

Jamshedpur: Heavy rains laced with thunderstorm hit the Steel City on Tuesday morning giving the denizens much needed respite from the soaring mercury.

The heavy shower that broke the month’s long dry spell stayed for entire day and touched large part of the district.

The shower was preceded with speedy winds and uprooted trees across the city. The straight mile road connecting Sakchi to Kadma was largely hit with uprooted trees blocking the movement of the traffic.

A low pressure trough coupled with a depression in northern Bay of Bengal resulted in rainfall at many places across the state.

“The rainfall was due to the impact of the depression and the low pressure trough over the state. The intensity of rain will increase in the next 24-hours.

Several parts of the state is expected to get moderate to rather heavy rainfall in the next 24-hours due to the
impact of the depression which is going to hit Bangladesh this evening,” said Patna Meteorological Office director .

Jamshedpur and its adjoining areas received maximum rainfall today with the local weather office recording 25.2 mm of rain.

Jamshedpur today recorded a maximum temperature of 29.1 degree Celsius, eleven notches below the average normal . Yesterday, the steel city had recorded 36.6 degree Celsius.

However, for the average citizens of the Industrial town the shower has brought relief from the scorching sun. The entire Kolhan division has been reeling under heat wave for the last two weeks and Tuesday shower has indeed given them the reprieve.
