Haryana Girl shocks second seed in National Chess (4)

    Jamshedpur, Oct 27: Haryana Girl Stuti Bhanot created a sensation by defeating the second seed Harshita Guddanti of Andhra Pradesh to be among the pack of six players sharing the top spot with three points each after the end of the third round of the ongoing 28th National U-13 boys and girls Chess Championship being held at Chamber Bhavan in Jamshedpur.

    In the girls section, three of the Women FIDE Master’s Vaishali R of Tamil Nadu, Bidhar Rutumbara of Odisha and Arpita Mukherjee of West Bengal, slipped behind the joint leaders by half a point as they conceded draw to Toshali V of AP, Tanya Pandey of Maharashtra and Anesha Mishra of Odisha.

    In the boys section, majorities of the higher seeds had an easy outing against their lesser known opponents. On board 5 and 6 Kerala boy Marthandan and Diptanshu Ranjan Swain of Odisha managed to stop their formidable opponents Rathanvel of Tamil Nadu and Nitish Belurkar of Goa to a creditable draw.
