Governor holds meeting to augment revenues of Birsa Agricultural University


    Ranchi: Governor Syed Ahmed held a high-level review meeting of Birsa Agricultural University with senior officials.

    The meet discussed how to increase revenue earning capacity of the University facing fund crunch. Present on the occasion among others were chief secretary of the Governor, Dr Nitin Madan Kulkarni, special officer (legal), Nalin Kumar and vice chancellor of Birsa Agricultural University Dr George John.

    It was stated in the meeting that the university ought to seek new revenue generation avenues by proper utilization of technical expertise and execution of work plan.

    On the occasion the chief secretary Kulkarni urged the vice chancellor to use vacant land with the university for agricultural purposes.

    He also urged the university authority to give targets for revenue generation to each department of the university.

    He also asked the university authority to present project plans for the financial year 2015-16 within next 15 days.

    It was decided in the meeting that vacant posts of faculties in veterinary science department would be filled up on contract basis at the earliest.

    It would streamline the academic activities in veterinary science department in the new academic session, it was stated.

    On the occasion the vice chancellor requested the Governor to ensure one-time allocation of funds on the heads of salaries and pensions at the beginning of the new financial year.

    It was also decided that the university would furnish expenditure statement of the allocated fund to the government while it would be taken into account that funds are released for disbursement of pensions.

    Dr George John on the occasion insisted that ACP/ MACP benefits be given to the non-teaching staff of grade 3 and 4 of the university on the lines of what is being given to the state government employees.

    It was also discussed in detail in the meeting that university headquarters, department of forestry, college of bio-chemistry and three zonal research centres, at Dumka, Chianki and Darisai, be included in non-plan expenditure heads.
