Jamshedpur : A free Tuberculosis (T.B.) detection camp for the underprivileged and needy people in and around Jamshedpur is being organised at Ardeshir Dalal Memorial Hospital (ADMH) in association with Rotary Club of Jamshedpur on 14th of September 2013 (Saturday) from 9:30 AM onwards.

Any person with cough, fever, loss of appetite and loss of weight for more than two weeks is advised to attend the camp and have a free checkup done.

Chest X-rays will be taken along with a sputum test to diagnose on-the-spot presence of T.B. infection in patients who will be attending the camp. Cases diagnosed with T.B. will be followed-up by recommendations for treatment in the subsequent months.

The camp will be inaugurated in the presence of AVM (Retd.) Dr. T P Madhusudanan, President, ADMH and General Manager, Medical Services, Tata Steel, and Rotary District Governor Rotarian Rajiv Modi (Bihar & Jharkhand).

Across the world, around nine million people are infected with T.B. of which more than two million (22%) are in India (World Health Organization statistics – 2011). Around four lakh T.B. cases per year occur in India including 66,000 new multi-drug resistant cases. This puts a disproportionate burden of T.B. on India.
