Free cataract camp benefits 163 patients

Chaibasa, Feb. 12: Bengali Seva Samiti organized a three-day free cataract operation camp at Sadar Hospital in Chaibasa.

A 17 member team led by Dr. Debasish Basak comprised of eye specialists, nurses paramedical and OT staffs from Kolkata Lions hospital operated the cataract patients at Sadar Hospital in Chaibasa. A total of 163 cataract patient underwent cataract surgery of the 355 people who had registered for the camp.

The president of the Bengali Seva Samiti, Raj Kumar Singh said, the NGO had made elaborate arrangement of food, medicines, lodging and spectacles for the cataract patient free of cost.

He informed that another free cataract operation camp would be conducted in the month of March if civil surgeon of Chaibasa Sadar hospital grants permission.

He added that Bengali Seva Samiti Chaibasa has two ambulances and one ‘Swarga Rath’ for carrying dead bodies. Present at the camp were Secretary Tapan Kumar, Subrata Bose and other members of the Samiti.
