Five succumb to Covid, 474 test positive in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Jan 20: Jamshedpur on Thursday continued to record COVID-19 recoveries outnumbering the new infections with 474 people contracting the contagion and pushing the overall caseload to 65,050.

COVID-related fatalities remained high with 5 people succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours taking the toll to 1109 till date, the health bulletin said.

Five people including nine-year-old boy from Bhalubasa succumbed to virus on Thursday. Two woman also died of Covid. Of the five deceased three were under treatment at Tata Motors Hospital, one at TMH and one at Mercy.

23-year-old girl, a resident of Bagbera, died at Mercy Hospital. 47 people including three children have died in 20 days during the third wave in Jamshedpur.

According to East Singhbhum Covid-19 medical bulletin, as many as 1001 people have walked out of healthcare facilities aggregating 58794 and leaving 5147 active infections.

The number of samples tested today was at 7944 pushing the cumulative number of specimens examined so far to 2163203 till date.

Jamshedpur’s positivity rate – the number of people testing positive for every 100 tests – was 5.97 percent with the latest addition in cases. 7944 samples were tested on Thursday.

Telco area of Steel City reported the maximum 75 cases on Thursday. 66 cases have come from Mango, 36 from Sakchi and 40 from Kadma.  

The positivity rate rose to 3.01 per cent in Jamshedpur.

The cumulative coronavirus case count stands at 65050 and the death count is now 1109, according to the latest health bulletin.

The new cases came out of the 7944 tests conducted on Thursday.

7944 COVID-19 tests, including 1752 RT-PCR, 5806 RAT and 386 TrueNat were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city.

East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 812623 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 91.05% while the mortality rate is 1.70%.

So far in Jamshedpur 2169280 samples have been collected out of which 2163203 have been tested and 2098153 have turned out to be negative.
