Failed love affair forces youth to end life in Jamshedpur

    Jamshedpur: The worrying figure indicating increasing suicide cases took another notch on Monday. Two persons, including a 22-year-old youth committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan at their houses under Ulidihpolice station area in Mango in the wee hours of Monday.

    In one of the incidents, a 45-year-old woman, MintiLakra, committed suicide by hanging at her house at Birsingh Nagar under Ulidih, where as in another incident, the 22-year-old youth, KartikDey ended his life by hanging from the ceiling fan at his house at Ekta Nagar in Ulidih.

    The police have recovered both the bodies from Birsingh Nagar and Ekta Nagar, and sent them to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.

    OC ofUlidihpolice station, Mukesh Chaudhury said that from the statement of the family members they gathered that the youth committed suicide after getting frustrated over a failed love affair.

    ” As per our investigation, Kartikwas in love with a girl, but due to some reasons their affair he was let under depression. Ultimately, he ended his life by hanging from the ceiling fan at his house today,” said Chaudhury.
    Chaudhury said the deceased’s father SapanDevy has given them the statement following which they sent the body for the post-mortem. A relative said Kartik was a painter and would work under a building construction firm.
    The reason behind the suicide of MintiLakra could not be ascertained.

    The deceased’s husband T Lakra said his wife would lead a normal life and there was no reason behind the suicide.
    “We had dinner last night, but my wife did not take the dinner, complaining stomachache. But in the wee hours, I found her hanging from the ceiling fan in our room ,” said Lakra.

    The OC, Ulidihthana, Chaudhury said that they are yet to find out the reason behind Minti’s suicide, adding that the investigation is on.
