Jamshedpur, Jan 5:Dholadih village of Chandpur panchayat under East Singhbhum district will soon become computer literate.
On the initiative of Sanjay Kumar, deputy collector of CM camp office a campaign has been launched to make a member of every family of the village computer literate.
On Thursday, Sanjay Kumar organised a camp at Utkramit middle school premises and informed the youths about the central government sponsored programme Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (DISHA) and asked them to receive the computer training. The villagers seemed quite excited about training programme. Several girls of the village learned the process of creating E-mail account and digital locker.
Making one person in every family digitally literate is one of the integral components of the Prime Minister ‘s vision of �Digital India�.
The Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (DISHA) or National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM) Scheme has been formulated to impart IT training to 52.5 lakh persons, including Anganwadi and ASHA workers and authorised ration dealers in all the States/UTs across the country so that the non-IT literate citizens are trained to become IT literate so as to enable them to actively and effectively participate in the democratic and developmental process and also enhance their livelihood.
Under the campaign one person in every family can register at NDLM portal using the Aadhar number. After the registration, the candidate will have to visit the nearest common service centre or Open School centre or IGNOU centre from where the candidate will be given 50 periods (hours) training which has to be completed within 10 to 30 days. After the training is over the candidate is provided certificates through online exam for which the general category candidate has to pay Rs 100 while it�s free for SC/St candidates.
Girls in the Santhal dominated Dholadih village are good in studies as several of them are doing their graduation and post-graduation at Jamshedpur Womens College and Co-Operative College and many girls are computer literate. This was the reason why the girls of the village were the first to register for computer training on the campaign launched by Sanjay Kumar.
The common service centre has been selected for the training of the youths and the agency will put up a camp at the village and they won�t have to go out for the training. The person who opts for IGNOU or Open School then they will be imparted training from the respective centre.
Dholadih Village houses a total of 245 families and the total population according to census 2011 is 1324 out of which 659 are girls and the literacy rate is 65.02 %. 87 % of the population is adivasi.
On the first day of the camp Sona Mardi, Mado Murmu, Neha Tudu, Parvati Soren, Purnima Baskey, Seeta Soren, Maya Soren, Jasmi Soren, Devanand Mardi, Manbodh Patr, Vinod Kumar Pandit, Sangeet Murmu, Ashish Kumar Patra, Laxmi Mardi, Swapna Baskey, Salgey Mardi, Thakur Soren, Ravi Shankar Tudu and others were present.
