Jamshedpur, June 18: Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said Chief Minister Entrepreneurship Board will soon be set up in the state with the view to make the women of Jharkhand independent. He said the state could develop by leaps and bounds only if the women were made independent.

“The womenfolk will get the strength of livelihood at district, block and village level all over Jharkhand. This will make them confident and self-reliant. This will change the face of Jharkhand at a faster rate than before,” said the CM while addressing a gathering after inaugurating Chhath Ghat and park in Baridih Busti on Sunday.

Das appealed to the people of the state to educate girls and asked them to quit gender discrimination. He said women laid the foundation of a family’s educational and cultural system which subsequently added value to society.

The CM said the state government had made a provision for Rs 700 crore in its budget with the view to make the people of the state, especially the youth, skilled in various trades. He said the government wanted to make sure that the people of the state do not have to migrate to other states in search of greener pastures.

“Education and skill are instruments that will bring change in the lives of the people of Jharkhand. This is why we are training our youths in different trades and making them capable enough to start their own business and give employment to many others,” said the CM.

Das said the government had planned to set up Udyami Sakhi Mandal in the 32,000 odd villages of the state. In every village, 15 Udyami Sakhi (entrepreneur friend) will be selected. A total of 4.80 lakh Udyami Sakhis will be selected, he said.

Later, in his speech, the CM stressed the need for creating greater awareness among the people about various social evils, their rights and duties. He appealed to the people to come out against witch killing and child marriage. He said the government was working hard to ensure success of its ‘Pahle padhai, uske baad vidai’ campaign.

The CM distributed sewing machines and beautician kits among several women beneficiaries under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Yojana and felicitated the Mukhiyas of ‘zero dropout’ panchayats of East Singhbhum. He asked the Mukhiyas of other panchayats to make their respective panchayats zero dropout panchayats. He said the Mukhiyas should play their due role in developing the state and live up to the expectations of the people.
