Only education can ensure Adivasis development: Draupadi Murmu

    Jamshedpur: Adivasis are the saviours of forest, land and water. Their community has long been protecting the environment continuously and struggling to keep their identity intact.

    This was observed here on Saturday by Jharkhand governor Draupadi Murmu during Disom Baha Bonga Mahotsava organized at Adeldih, Kovali in Potka.

    Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Murmu said the forests were gradually receding due to rapid increase in population. As a result, a greater responsibility now lies ahead for the entire society including the Adivasis, she said.

    The governor said that the Adivasis did not discriminate between boys and girls which was a matter of pride for the community. She said education was must for the community’s development. She said the overall development of the community was possible only through education.

    Also present on the occasion was the MP of Jamshedpur Vidyut Varan Mahato, MLA of Potka Menka Sardar and SSP Anup T Mathew. A large number of local residents were also present during the function.

    The governor also inaugurated the two day Baha festival being organized at Marang Talsa, Sundernagar. Here too, she underlined the need for educating tribal people for their overall and fast development.
