Jamshedpur, Sept 20: Rotary India has taken vow after eradication of Polio, to make India Literate—the slogan is �Illiteracy�Quit India�.
The aim is to make India literate by 2017…the effort will continue until it is achieved & sustained.
To prepare a road map for this, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organized �District Literacy Seminar� at S N T I Auditorium on Sunday. The event was blessed by stalwarts of not only Rotary Dist 3250 but also from India.
The programme started with lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest Rtn Shekhar Mehta. In his address, Chief Guest Shekhar Mehta, talked about Asha Kiran Project where each member can adopt a child by contributing only Rs 2100/- and send a child back to school.
It is called Asha Kiran Project. Target is to send 1 lakh children back to school who, for various reasons cannot go to school or dropped out from school for many reasons.
A Sanskrit welcome song was presented by the students of Gurukul Sapra followed by Nukkad Nattak on literacy while a film was also shown to the audience. Rotarctors of Karim City College staged a Nukkad Natak on T E A C H and it was appreciated by all.
There was a panel discussion where Chief Guest Rtn Shekhar Mehta, DG Rtn Bindu Singh, PDG Kamal Sanghvi, PDG Rakesh Prasad, Asst Governor Pratim Banerjee and other stalwart of Dist answered the queries of attending Rotarians and made them understand the way India can become a literate country.
More than 200 Rotarians from almost 100 Clubs attended the meet along with Innerwheel members and Rotractors.
Seminar Chairman Amitava Bakshi on behalf of Host Club�Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West expressed hope that this seminar will light the lives of many who have not been privileged enough to see the light of education.
President Rajender Sachdev thanked everybody for attending the seminar and making it a grand success.
He expressed hope that attending Rotarians will go back to their Clubs and implement the learning in their own areas and India will become literate through houses, blocks, villages, town and a day will definitely come when India will be called a fully literate country.
He thanked all attending Rotarians and host club members for making it a success.
