Drone surveillance cameras to keep an eye on Ramnavami processions

Jamshedpur, April 4: East Singhbhum district administration is all set to place a strict security arrangement with a special focus on eve teasing and hooligans during the Ramnavami festival.

The administration as part of its security measures has decided to introduce electronic surveillance during Ramnavami procession to keep an eye on rowdy elements, who often create nuisance, during the religious procession especially as it passes through communally sensitive areas.

Drone surveillance cameras will be kept by the district administration at composite control room in Sakchi, near Sakchi Roundabout, near Mango roundabout and near Subernarekha river ghat (Sakchi).

�Drone cameras will be used for aerial surveillance of crowded and sensitive spots. We would be using it for the first time on such a large scale for Ramnavami,� said ADM law and order East Singhbhum Subodh Kumar.

A circular has been issued to all the licensed akhara committees (over 152 in city) video photography has been made mandatory for both procession in city (on August 5) and also during immersion rituals (on August 6) at river ghats.

This apart, district administration today informed of putting drone (aerial) surveillance cameras at strategic locations to keep a tab on trouble mongers.

�We are taking every step to ensure safety and security. Following directive from the state government we have made it mandatory for all the akhara committee to conduct videography of the procession both during rituals associated with Ramnavami in city and also during immersion to the different ghats.

They have been asked to hire videographers which will be inspected by the magistrates and concerned police station officials,� said SDO Dhalbhum Manoj Kumar Ranjan.

Incidentally, administration from their own end will also be putting up videographers at locations which would witness large number of processions.

�We will be placing videographers at strategic locations based on past history of troubles during procession especially at Sakchi roundabout, near Subernarekha ghat, R. D Tata Roundabout (Golmuri), Shahid Chowk (on Kalimati Road), Sonari and Mango,� added SDO Dhalbhum.

An official said that arrangements are in place to provide uninterrupted power supply but said that akharas committee should ensure that electricity pilferage should be stopped and pending amount cleared with power supplier. He also asked akharas committee to submit a list of such areas with hanging electricity wires to help electricity officials in installing guard wires on such points.

The administration is serious in ensuring first aid and ambulance services during the festivity and the procession. Directives were issued to all the Akharas committees to strictly abide by the rules laid out in their licences especially pertaining to use of loudspeakers (public amplifiers).
