DPS shooting incident: Student returning from CMC with pellet struck in body

Jamshedpur, July 20: The 17-year-old student of Dayanand Public School, Sudhanshu Kumar, who was admitted�at Tata Main Hospital on June 22 with gun-shot injuries is returning to the city without being operated at CMC Vellore. The pellet is still struck in his body. Doctors at CMC have advised him to wait for a year before they can operate.

�He is returning to the city without being operated. Shockingly the pellet�of�the 7.65 mm pistol is still stuck�inside his spine, which is matter of great concern for the parents,� said a relative.

Devendra Kumar Gupta, father of the gun-shot victim said that the Tata Main Hospital management was referred his son to CMC Vellore for getting the pellet removed.

The class XI student of Dayanand Public School in Sakchi, Sudhanshu had sustained bullet injury as one of his classmate had reportedly mistakenly pressed the trigger while showing him the gun in the classroom on June 22 morning.�

The classmate was immediately arrested and the police recovered two pistols from the bag of the accused student during a search operation that followed.

The victim, Sudhanshu Kumar (17) was seriously injured and was rushed to Tata Main Hospital where he�was shifted to high dependency unit (HDU). �The gunshot�passed through his left armpit�and got stuck behind the�lungs.
