Jamshedpur, May 16: Jharkhand director general of police (DGP) DK Pandey today stressed the need for better co-ordination between police and paramilitary force during anti-insurgency operations in Naxal-hit areas.
Pandey along with senior CRPF officials today reviewed the recent anti-insurgency operations and suggested measures as to how to improve effectiveness of the operations at Circuit House in Chaibasa in West Singhbhum. The meeting was attended by Prabhat Kumar DIG Kolhan, East Singhbhum SSP Anoop T Mathew and other senior officials.
Sources revealed that during the review meeting discussions were held on a number of issues, all pertaining to anti-naxal operations. Pandey is learnt to have given directives to his subordinates as to how to go about for operations in Singhbhum and South Chhotanagpur region, where rebels make use of landmines the most.
Pandey said that Maoist activities in Jharkhand had been controlled to a great extent. “Maoists are now joining the mainstream. The situation has improved to a great extent as we have been able to contain them,” he told.
He urged the policemen to remain alert as the rebel outfits reply more on guerrilla tactics and can attack anywhere anytime. He said that the idea is to work in much efficient manner and curb the criminal activities across the state.
The DGP said the state police department needs to improve the intelligence gathering mechanism soon.
�I have come up with some important suggestions and asked them to improve on gathering information after all we are here to serve the society and it cannot be possible without improving on our part and winning confidence,� said the DGP.
