Jamshedpur: The deputy Mukhiyas of Jamshedpur block met the deputy development commissioner (DDC) of East Singhbhum Suraj Kumar and district Panchayati Raj Officer RK Mishra on Thursday to demand financial rights.
Handing over a memorandum on the various demands raised by them, the deputy Mukhiyas said they were reduced to being non-entities in the absence of financial rights. They alleged that the Mukhiyas of Purihasa, West Ghagidih, South Karandih and Bagbera Colony panchayats were trying to implicate the deputy Mukhiyas in a bid to straitjacket them through deprivation of their financial rights in connection with the panchayat affairs.
The DDC assured to provide financial rights to the deputy Mukhiyas very soon. He said the procedural formalities were underway and very soon the demands would be fulfilled.
Leading the deputy Mukhiyas, Satyavir Singh, president of Up Mukhiya Sangh said the block development officer of Jamshedpur Parul Singh had given her consent to their demand for financial rights. Singh said the demand for a probe into the works done by the deputy Mukhiyas was absurd since all the works were officially done by the Mukhiyas. He said a probe into the works done by Mukhiyas would land them in jail.
Among those present during the meeting included Sunil Gupta, Birju Patro, Debu Gope, Abhishek Jai Das, Reena Mandal, Anil Kumar, Bablu Karua, Sandeep Sharma alias Bobby and Manko Hembram.
