Jamshedpur: Those citizens who still have old demonetized Indian currency notes in their possession may deposit the same either in the nearest post office or cooperative bank before 20th July.

Reserve Bank of India has issued a letter in this regard. Senior superintendent of post, Jamshedpur, Bimal Kishore, said the account holders may deposit the notes till December.

Meanwhile, State Bank of India officials said there were no old notes in the banks strongroom. Nationalized banks have sent old notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denomination to the Patna branch of RBI long back. Cooperative banks of the city however still have the old notes.

Due to departmental hurdles, the notes collected by the cooperative banks of other states also could not be deposited in the RBI. The notes were deposited till 31st December last year.
