Jamshedpur, June 22: Dengue Roko Abhiyan, an initiative of Tata Steel UISL (formerly JUSCO) was flagged off from the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme IDSP Office on Wednesday, June 22.
Assistant Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) Dr Sahir Paul; Dr. Meena, DMO; John Subhakar, Chief Manager, Public Health Services, Tata steel UISL, Dr Alok Suman, Dy. Chief Manager (Entomologist) were present on the occasion.
Container collection through IEC vehicle that is fitted with PA system for the prevention and awareness on dengue was flagged off as a part of integrated vector control management.
It is an innovative awareness drive for amongst the community which will not only aware the community through jingle and appeal message but also involve the community to participate and deposit the container in vehicle that have potential for Aedes breeding and unattained to remove breeding resource permanently .
As dengue, malaria, chikungunya etc spread mostly in the rainy season, therefore preventive measures are required and this initiative which started today will continue till September 30.
Through this vehicle and other initiatives, people living in urban settlements of the city would be made aware to identify the breeding places of mosquitoes and prevent their breeding.
