Deepak murder case: Police arrest main accused, loaded pistol seized

Jamshedpur : The police today arrested Krishna Gope, the main accused in Deepak Munda murder case registered with the Adityapur police station in Seraikela-Kharsawan district on March 30.

Police was in search for 30-year-old �Gope, a resident of Adityapur. He was also accused in the firing on Sujay Nandi, a building materials trader at Adityapur on April 30 evening while still absconding in the Deepak Munda murder case.

Officer-in-charge, Adityapur thana, Arvind Kumar said that Gope was arrested from the house of one of his distant relatives at Road No 5 in Sankusai under Ulidih thana area in Mango where he was hiding.

” On a secret information , we acted against Gope who was taking hiding at his relative’s house in Sankusai, a police party raided the house at about 1 am today and nabbed the criminal from the house with a loaded pistol,” said Kumar.�

It may be recalled that�a gang of six bike-borne criminals had murdered Munda at S-Type on Tata-Kandra Road in Adityaur in the morning.�

The assailants who were led by Gope had first hurled nail-bombs at the SUV of Munda and subsequently fired from their pistols causing the victim to die on the spot.�

In protest against the incident family members and supporters of Munda had set up a blockade at S-Type More on the Tata-Kandra Road demanding arrest of the culprits.�

Seraikela-Kharsawan SP, Indrajeet Mahatha had set up a task-force for arresting the assailants involved in the Deepak Munda murder case.

The task-force succeeded to nab five of the assailants involved in the murder, but Gope managed to escape. Those already arrested were Rajiv Lohar, Pradeep Man, Vikash Kumar Singh, Rohit Kumar Mishra and Bapi Ray, all residents of Adityapur.

The officer-in-charge, Adityapur thana Kumar said that Gope murdered Munda because the latter would look after the sand ghat of Bobby Singh and would demand royalty from him when his men would go to lift sands from the Saldih Ghat for supply to the builders.

” As per our investigation both Munda and Gope had fights twice over payment of royalty. As Munda tried to bully him, he got him killed,” the officer-in-charge quoted Gope as saying to the police.
